Punctuality You Can Rely On

Your Go-To Plumber in Torrensville for Reliable Service

Hot water that runs out halfway through a shower. A gully that overflows whenever the washing machine empties. A tap you can hear dripping from the next room. Small things, mostly, until they aren’t, and the sooner the cause is found the cheaper the repair.

Tell us what you’re seeing and we’ll ask about access before we come. Water spraying from a split pipe? We can typically be there within 60 minutes. With smaller faults, we aim for a same day response. At the property you get the cause explained and a written fixed price with options, and nothing begins until you agree.

Our Promise

Our Promise to Torrensville Homes & Shopfronts

Adelaide Expert Plumbing & Gas began with co-owners Michael Heinrich and Colin Archer-Bourke, two mates with a van who had watched too many households get let down by tradies who did not show up, charged unfairly, or did a quick fix that failed by winter. The van is now a team of six, tradesmen and apprentices brought up on the same non-negotiables. Arrive when we said we would. Explain the fault in plain words. Price it before we start, not after.

In Torrensville that last one carries extra weight, because more than the usual share of homes here are somebody’s rental, so we are often quoting one person while reporting to another. Everything is documented either way. Every job meets AS/NZS 3500 for plumbing work, AS 5601 for gas, and carries our Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee. If our work fails, we come back and fix it free of charge. The longer version of how Michael and Colin started the business is worth a read.

Our Services

Plumbing Services for Torrensville Homes, Rentals & Shopfronts

Torrensville is really two kinds of street. In one part the frontages are wide, with a driveway running past the house to a carport behind it. A few streets east the blocks go narrow and deep. Which one you are on decides whether we bring gear down the side or work from the front, so we ask before we arrive. The shopfronts along Torrensville’s stretch of Henley Beach Road are their own puzzle, built wall to wall with no setback and a kitchen squeezed in at the back, and the tenancies around Brickworks Marketplace are much the same. Every job is quoted onsite at a fixed price.

General Plumbing

Leaking mixers, a slow laundry gully, a toilet that keeps filling. The routine work that keeps a Torrensville house going, priced onsite.

Blocked Drains

Tree-lined streets, large private yards, old joints underneath both. Roots get in, and the kitchen end of a Torrensville house is usually where you notice. We jet the line, then check the fall.

Hot Water Repairs & Installs

Where a unit sits on a character-area frontage, the position matters as much as the model. We work through hot water repairs and replacements, gas or electric, with the location sorted before anything is ordered.

24 Hour Plumber

Mains do not choose business hours. Someone here picks up around the clock, seven days, and we can typically be there within 60 minutes.

Tap & Toilet Repairs

Worn seats, seized stop taps, cisterns that will not seal against an old pan. In a Torrensville house of this vintage the fitting is the easy part, the pipework behind it is the job.

Commercial Plumbing

The shops along Torrensville's side of Henley Beach Road are narrow and deep, with no setback to the footpath. We do grease arrestors, trade waste work and maintenance scheduled around trading hours.

Gas Heaters

Both character statements over this suburb name brick chimneys, and behind a good number of them sits an old flue or an abandoned gas point. We service, repair and install flued gas heaters to AS 5601.

Blocked Toilets

Wet wipes that never break down, or a pan on a long run to the sewer after a rear addition. We clear it, then say which.

Water Filtration

Adelaide's hard water is rough on kettles, glassware and the inside of a hot water unit. We install under-sink and whole-of-house filtration, sized to your actual pressure.

What Torrensville Locals Say About Our Plumbers

Our plumbers have worked these streets for long enough to know them well, from Hayward Avenue and Kings Reserve through to Ashwin Parade and Torrensville’s Henley Beach Road shopfronts. What follows is feedback from customers all around Adelaide.

Why us

Why Torrensville Homeowners Choose Us

Our Google rating sits on 260+ five-star reviews, and reading through them is a dull way to spend a lunch break. Nobody writes about heroics. They write that we showed up when the office said we would, that the figure we quoted was the figure on the bill, and that the kitchen looked untouched afterwards. Dull is the point.

Torrensville is two block patterns sitting side by side. Some streets have wide frontages and a driveway running past the house; a few streets east the allotments turn narrow and deep, with the kitchen and bathroom added on the back. Which one you are on decides how we get gear to the drain, so we ask before we arrive. There are plans that spread the cost through Humm if a repair lands at an awkward moment, and either way the price is agreed onsite before a tool comes out.

Where we service

Where We Work Around Torrensville & Its Borders

Torrensville has awkward edges, and Henley Beach Road is the clearest example, because the suburb swaps sides along it. Between Hardys Road and Marion Road we hold the southern side while Underdale holds the north, and west of Marion Road the southern side becomes Brooklyn Park. East of about West Street it reverses, so Torrensville takes the north side while Mile End takes the south. Only a short run through the middle is Torrensville on both kerbs. Across South Road to the east is Thebarton, and below the southern lobe, past Rankine Road, you are into Cowandilla. The northern boundary is the southern bank of the River Torrens. Within those edges we work every street, from Hayward Avenue and Carlton Parade to Jervois, Huntriss and Danby Streets. We work all four of those suburbs, so if you cannot work out which side of a line you are on, tell us the street number when you call.

FAQs

Torrensville Plumbing Questions, Answered

Six questions, and they are the ones that come up again and again on this side of West Torrens. Some are about the older housing stock, one is about which side of Henley Beach Road you are standing on, and a couple are the plain practical ones anybody wants answered before a plumber turns up. Read what applies to you, ignore the rest, and ring us with anything we have missed.

Start by measuring it rather than guessing. SA Water publishes a simple test you can run yourself at the front garden tap, timing how much comes out in a minute, which tells you whether the problem is at the meter or inside the property. It is also worth knowing that pressure limiting valves were only required on new water connections from November 2005, so most of the housing stock in these streets was never fitted with one. We test at the meter, then at the fixtures, and work out where the loss is happening before recommending anything.

Almost always. Access here genuinely varies street to street, which is why we ask about it on the phone rather than assuming. Some of the character-area streets have wide frontages with a driveway running past the house, so the gear goes straight down the side. The historic-area streets a little further east are narrow and deep, and there we work from the front or through an inspection opening instead. Either way we will tell you what we need before we arrive, so nobody is standing in the driveway working it out.

It depends where along it you are, which surprises most people. Between roughly Hardys Road and Marion Road, Torrensville is the southern side of the road while Underdale holds the north. Keep going west past Marion Road and the southern side is Brooklyn Park. East of roughly West Street it flips, so Torrensville is the northern side while Mile End holds the south. Only a short central stretch is Torrensville on both kerbs. The practical effect for you is nil, since we service every one of those suburbs. It matters for your council rates notice, not for who turns up.

It can affect anything visible from the street, which includes external pipework, a relocated unit on a front or side elevation, or roof-mounted gear. Council is the authority on that, not us, so we will not tell you what is permitted. What we do is raise it before we settle on a position, look at the alternatives that keep the work off the frontage, and give you a quote that reflects the location we can actually use rather than the easiest one for us.

The line is drawn at the inspection point. All pipework from that point into your property is the owner’s to maintain and repair, and if the blockage is in SA Water’s infrastructure, SA Water clears it. Licensed plumbers are not permitted to work on their assets. What that means in practice is that we locate the blockage, clear it if it is on your side, and if it turns out to be theirs we report it in and lodge the claim on your behalf.

You get an upfront quote on every job before any work begins. Our receptionist cannot give you a figure over the phone, and that is deliberate rather than evasive. Their job is keeping the team dispatched and running on schedule, not working a price book. So the quote happens onsite once a plumber has seen the problem, usually with a couple of options so you are choosing rather than being told. There is no pressure applied at that point either.
