Do You Cover North Brighton As Well As Brighton?
Yes. They’re two separate suburbs, both in postcode 5048 and the City of Holdfast Bay, and they don’t actually touch: Hove sits between them, with Holder Road marking much of North Brighton’s southern edge. This page covers both. Brighton is the jetty, the station and the Jetty Road and Brighton Road shops, with a lot of units and townhouses. North Brighton is mostly separate houses, plus Brighton Secondary, the Minda campus and the new apartments at Brighton Dunes.
I Own A Brighton Townhouse & The Drain Is Shared. Who Pays For The Repair?
SA Water looks after the sewer main up to the connection point. The private drain on your side of it, including a line shared by several townhouses, belongs to the owners, which usually means a strata or community corporation decision. We camera the line so everyone can see where the fault is and whose section it sits in, then quote the options before any work starts. That makes the conversation between owners far easier.
Who Owns The Stormwater Pipe From My Brighton Home To The Kerb?
You do. The City of Holdfast Bay looks after the public stormwater network, but the outlet serving your property, including the section of pipe that runs under the footpath to the kerb, is the owner’s responsibility. Council asks for a Stormwater Pipe Connection form before work on kerb outlets. Holdfast Bay also notes its established street trees can lift kerbs, and in our experience those roots find outlet pipes too. We handle the repair and the paperwork.
Our House Near The Beach Is On Sandy Ground. Does That Change How Drains Fail?
It can. Brighton’s coastal side was built through high sand dunes, and in our experience drains in sandy ground behave differently from pipes in clay. Rather than being cracked apart by heaving soil, older joints tend to settle and let sand wash in, which builds up and slows the line. A camera inspection shows whether it’s sand, roots or a sagging section, so the fix matches the actual fault.
Can You Work On Shops & Cafés On Jetty Road Without Closing Them?
We’ll always try. Jetty Road and the Brighton Road strip are full of cafés, bakeries and shops where a blocked sink or a leaking toilet affects the whole day’s trade.
