How We Work in Allenby Gardens Homes
Co-owners Michael Heinrich and Colin Archer-Bourke started out with a van and a belief that customers deserved plumbers who turned up, explained things honestly and cleaned up properly. That belief built the business into a team of six, and the two of them are still hands-on.
Allenby Gardens homes are mostly family houses lived in by their owners, and many of the older ones sit in a protected historic area, with red brick walls, high ceilings and tree-lined streets out the front. So we plan pipe runs carefully, protect floors and gardens, and treat the house like it is our own. Every repair is covered by our Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee, and our 260+ five-star Google reviews come from exactly that kind of work.
The price is fixed before we start. Learn how Michael and Colin built the business.
Plumbing for Allenby Gardens Homes, Townhouses & Shopfronts
Family homes make up most of the suburb, and the stock changes as you move through it. North of Grange Road, the historic area around Coombe Road and Barham Street is older homes on wide lots in tree-lined streets. South of it are newer streets and townhouses. There is no industry, but Port Road and Grange Road carry a supermarket, a bakery, a tavern and several cafés and restaurants, each with its own kitchen.
General Plumbing
Dripping taps, a cistern that will not stop, a new tap by the back door. Everyday plumbing repairs for Allenby Gardens family homes, older houses and townhouses.
Blocked Drains
In the older tree-lined streets north of Grange Road, roots are, in our experience, a common cause when an older drain keeps blocking. We clear it with high-pressure jetting and find the cause. From $79, T&C's Apply.
Hot Water Systems
A four-bedroom family home with two bathrooms asks a lot of its hot water. We carry out hot water repairs and replacements and size the new system to the household.
Emergency Plumbing 24/7
A burst pipe in the middle of the night, or a restaurant kitchen on Port Road with a blocked drain before dinner service. Call us any time and we will get a plumber out.
Taps & Toilets
Leaking taps, running cisterns and wobbly toilet pans in family bathrooms and ensuites, plus the customer toilets at the cafés, bakery and tavern nearby.
Pipe Relining
Older homes behind low masonry fences and small front gardens leave little room for a trench. Where the old pipe allows it, we reline the damaged drain from the inside instead of digging.
Bathroom Renovations
In our experience older homes here have often had their bathrooms moved or extended over the decades. We plumb bathroom renovations so the new room sits on sound pipework.
Bathtub Installation
Plenty of Allenby Gardens family homes have four or more bedrooms, and a bath is often on the list. We install freestanding and built-in baths and connect them properly.
Blocked Showers
A shower that drains slowly in a busy family bathroom soon becomes a daily annoyance. We clear the waste, check the trap and grate, and look for an older join causing trouble.

Why Allenby Gardens Homeowners & Café Owners Choose Us
We have 260+ five-star Google reviews, and there is not much drama in them. The plumber came on time, the price stayed as quoted, and the house was cleaner when they left. That is really all we are trying to do.
In Allenby Gardens that means respecting homes people plan to stay in. An older home behind a low masonry fence and a small front garden leaves little room to dig, so we look at relining before trenching. A larger family home needs its bathroom upgrades planned, not patched. And a café or restaurant on Grange Road needs its kitchen drain cleared before service. Everyone gets a fixed quote before work begins and our Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee.
Servicing Allenby Gardens & the Suburbs Around It
We work right through Allenby Gardens, from the Port Road shops and Coombe Road down past the school on Barham Street and across Grange Road to the newer streets and the Linear Park. That takes in Lewanick Street, Maclagan Avenue and McCole Circuit, plus Allenby Gardens Reserve and McCole Reserve. East Avenue is the full western edge, with Beverley on the other side of it, where the land turns to warehouses and offices. Welland runs alongside on the eastern side, with its plaza on Port Road and its yards south of Grange Road. Croydon is close by, beyond Welland and West Croydon, rather than next door.

Questions Allenby Gardens Homeowners Ask Us
Allenby Gardens questions tend to be about older homes in the historic area, bathroom upgrades in bigger family homes and blocked drains under established front gardens, along with a few from local cafés. Here are seven, answered simply. For anything else, phone 08 8152 9100.
Our Older Home Keeps Getting A Blocked Drain. Do You Have To Dig Up The Front Yard?
Not necessarily. Many older Allenby Gardens homes sit behind low masonry fences with small front gardens and street trees, so digging is the last option. We clear the line first, then run a camera through to see what is causing the blockages. If the pipe is cracked but still in one piece, relining can repair it from the inside and leave the garden and fence as they are.
Our House Is In The Allenby Gardens Historic Area. Does That Change A Bathroom Renovation?
Mostly it changes the planning, not the plumbing inside. The historic area north of Grange Road protects the character of the streetscape, and demolishing all or part of a building there needs development approval. A bathroom renovation inside the house is usually straightforward, but anything visible from the street, such as a new hot water unit or external pipes, is worth planning carefully, and we will tell you if something needs a conversation with council first.
We Want To Add A Bath To Our Second Bathroom. Can The Existing Plumbing Handle It?
In most family homes it can, but we check before promising. We look at the hot water capacity, the size and fall of the waste line, the floor structure and where the new bath will connect. Then you get a fixed quote that covers the bath, any changes to the waste or water lines, and the finish, so there are no surprises halfway through.
The Shower In Our Older Home Drains Slowly No Matter What We Do. Why?
In our experience it is usually a build-up of hair and soap in the waste and trap, but in older homes where the bathroom has been renovated before, a join between newer and original pipe can also catch debris. We clear the waste, check the trap and grate, and if it keeps coming back we inspect the line with a camera to find the real cause.
We Run A Café On Grange Road. Can You Look After Our Kitchen Drains & Grease Arrestor?
Yes. The cafés and restaurants along Grange Road and Port Road each run their own kitchen, and grease is the usual culprit when a sink or floor waste blocks. We clear the line, check the grease arrestor, and can come before opening or after close so you do not lose trade. SA Water’s trade waste requirements are part of how we plan the work.
Do You Tell Me The Price Before You Start?
Every time. Each job gets an upfront quote before any work begins. Our receptionist does not have access to a price book, because their role is to keep the team on schedule, dispatch plumbers and look after customers. The plumber quotes on site, usually with a few options, and there is no pressure to go ahead.
What If We Need A Plumber In Allenby Gardens Late At Night?
Call us. We are open 24 hours, seven days, and for a genuine emergency we can typically be there within 60 minutes. For work that can wait until the next day, we aim for a same day response. Our plumbers each carry a current individual licence and are insured and police-checked, and the business holds licence PGE #360928. Plumbing licensing in South Australia is overseen by Consumer and Business Services under the Plumbers, Gas Fitters and Electricians Act 1995 (SA).
