Is My West Beach Home Under Charles Sturt Or West Torrens?
It depends on the address, because West Beach is split between the two councils. The older streets between Seaview Road and Military Road are mostly City of Charles Sturt, while most of the rest, including the West Beach Parks precinct, is City of West Torrens. It matters for stormwater: the owner is responsible up to the legal point of discharge, and Charles Sturt needs an engineering permit to install or repair a kerb outlet. We confirm which council applies before we quote.
Why Do The Outdoor Drains At Our West Beach Place Keep Filling With Sand?
West Beach was laid out on graded coastal sandhills, and sand is still the ground under much of the suburb. In our experience sand gets washed into gully traps, outdoor shower wastes and stormwater pits, and it settles wherever water slows down. We clear the drains, check for cracked or open joints that let sand in from outside, and can fit grates or traps that catch grit before it reaches the pipe.
