Most of Semaphore sits inside a historic area of older homes, from small houses that share a wall to seafront homes on the Esplanade, many on sandy ground with mature trees along the street. Why Does The Drain In My Old Semaphore House Keep Blocking Again?
In houses built from the 1860s to the 1940s, the underground drains are commonly older lines with more joints, and joints are where tree roots and sand work their way in. Semaphore has both, with mature street trees and sandy ground. A drain that’s cleared without finding that entry point will usually block again. We run a camera through the line, show you the problem on screen, and then clear it, repair the damaged section, or reline it so the garden doesn’t get dug up.
My Semaphore Home Shares A Wall. Is The Blocked Drain Mine Or Next Door's?
It depends on where the blockage is. Pipework inside a property boundary is generally the owner’s to maintain, while SA Water looks after the public sewer beyond it. Where Semaphore homes sit side by side, though, the private lines can run close together or share a path out to the street. We camera the drain, find the blockage, and tell you plainly whose line it’s in before anyone digs, so the right person pays for the fix.
Besides Homes, Can You Fix The Kitchen Drains At My Semaphore Road Café?
Yes. A food business puts far more grease down the drain than a house, and SA Water expects almost every food business to run some form of grease pre-treatment. When the line into the grease arrestor chokes, or the kitchen has grown busier than the arrestor was sized for, the sinks back up and the shop starts to smell. We clear the line with high-pressure water jetting, camera it to find what’s catching, and repair or upgrade the plumbing so it stops coming back. Where we can, we do it outside trading hours.

Our receptionist doesn’t have a price book, because their job is keeping the team on schedule, dispatched and looking after customers, so the quote is done in person with a few options and no pressure at all. If you’re calling outside regular business hours, a call-out fee may apply, so call our friendly team to check our availability. We’re on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
